Lesson Eight: The Judicial Branch

The
Judicial Branch interprets the
law. It is made up of a system of federal courts. The Supreme
Court is the highest court in the United States.
There
are nine members of the Supreme Court. The President nominates
the Supreme Court members, but before they are confirmed,
the Senate must approve them. After
being confirmed, they serve until they die or resign.
The
leader of the Supreme Court is called the Chief Justice. The
current Chief Justice is John Roberts.
The
Supreme Court meets in the Supreme Court Building in Washington
D.C.
